Jawaharlal Nehru National College of Engineering was established in the year 1980 by the National Education Society, a pioneer society in Malnad region founded by freedom fighters of high repute. The College is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum and accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and also by Government of Karnataka. The College campus is spread over an area of more than forty acres having all amenities to cater to the needs of about 1500 students and 200 staff members.

FACTS
The college has strict policies against ragging of all forms and appropriate steps are taken in case of occurrence according to Indian Penal Code. The college has a fleet of 8 buses to allow students to commute to and from college. National Service Scheme (NSS) of the college actively participates in events like personality development programmes, blood donation camps, HIV/AIDS
awareness campaigns and anti-drug campaigns.

The college boasts of a huge library with more than 63,000 volumes and nearly 14,000 single titles available to students. The college has a large multipurpose playground for football, cricket and athletics, an indoor hall for badminton and table tennis. A well-equipped
gymnasium with Multigym facility is also present. Internet browsing facility is available for students and staff members.
